Keeping it local….

Cotehill Cheese, Market Rasen

Cote Hill Farm supplies us with their amazing Cote Hill Blue, and what a Cheese it is!

Michael and Mary Davenport milk 80 cows at Cote Hill Farm and started making Cote Hill Blue and Yellow Belly in October 2005 using unpasturised milk from their contented cows.

Cote Hill Cheese is a real local success story and we are proud to feature their cheeses.

R.W. Stokes & Sons Ltd, Lincoln

Robert William Stokes opened his first grocery shop in 1902, and very soon became fascinated by tea and coffee. In 1913, R.W. Stokes purchased the Lincoln Coffee Palace at 206 High St, and renamed it "Arcadia Cafe".

In 1937, the Arcadia Cafe was sold to Marks & Spencer for the sum of £21,000, and RW Stokes moved next door to the High Bridge cafe. R.W.Stokes died in 1954, and in 1958 the High Bridge cafe was closed for fifteen weeks whilst alterations were being made to the building.

In 1990 Stoke & Sons started supplying the Brackenborough Hotel and in 2002 the company celebrated it's 100th birthday. Stokes High Bridge Cafe is one of last remaining family run businesses on Lincoln.

Frank Freeman & Sons, Grimsby

Peter Freeman set up Frank Freeman in 1956 with brothers Billy, Paddy and Freddy on the then thriving Grimsby Fish Docks.

Peter now runs the Company with sons Peter and Gary who continue to supply us every day with the finest catches of fish that include such varieties as Haddock, Cod and Monkfish.

The Brackenborough has been associated with Peter's Company for over 20 years and we still strike deals the traditional way with Peter, and that's over a pint of real Ale.

Shaws Fine Fruit & Veg, Louth

Fresh should mean fresh and that is exactly what we get from Rob Shaw. This company dates back to 1912 when Rob's grandfather started trading as Shaws Fruit and Veg.

Rob joined in 1968 and has since been joined by his son Michael in 2002.

Wherever possible Rob buys from local suppliers and farms and this shines through in the quality.

Having supplied The Brackenborough for over 15 years, the Shaws quality matches our exacting standards and we look forward to many more years of successful trading with a great little local Company.

Tom Woods Brewery, Barnetby.

Tom Woods brew our delicious Oak Ridge Maverick as well as supplying us with other fantastic real Cask Ales.

Tom Wood started brewing in 1995 in a converted granary building on the family farm and originally produced around 5,000 pints per week for delivery to pubs within a 40 mile radius.

The capacity of the brewery was tripled in 2001 with the purchase of a larger brewplant from the now defunct Ash Vine Brewery in Somerset.

In 2002 Highwood took over a local wholesaler, and relocated the distribution side of the business to Grimsby. Production now stands at around 30,000 pints per week and Tom Woods beers are available nationally through various wholesalers.

The company is now able to supply a full range of regional and national keg, cask and bottled products to customers throughout Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire.

Let’s raise a glass to Tom Woods!

GBM Recycling, Louth

Based in Louth, GBM offers Recycling and Waste management services to us and many of the local business community.

GBM were chosen as a preferred supplier because they created a personal service package for us that have been tailored to complement their own environmental policy.

Being local, their vehicles make relatively short journeys collecting their recyclables (which includes cardboard, glass and metal). These are then processed before being despatched in bulk for final stage recycling. This is unlike any of the major contractors who reprocess in Lincoln, Grimsby and even Hull.

Graham Williams quoted "GBM are proud to be associated with the Brackenborough Arms in helping them reduce their carbon emissions."
